Twelfth Grade Portfolio Requirements
All students are responsible for writing these entries and placing required writings in their portfolios in their English classrooms. It is the student’s responsibility to meet all required deadlines.
Portfolio requirements:
The completed portfolio score that includes evaluations for each writing sample will equal a fourth quarter test score.

Twelfth Grade Portfolio Requirements
All students are responsible for writing these entries and placing required writings in their portfolios in their English classrooms. It is the student’s responsibility to meet all required deadlines.
Portfolio requirements:
- Formal, multi-media presentation arguing a position for a political or social cause. You must include the text, PowerPoint and any other related files from the presentation.
- Analysis of a group project including the group’s agenda, plan, and the criteria for the analysis. The group’s project will center on exploring a community issue established by the group or recommended by the teacher. A specific goal must be formulated, worked towards and results presented before their peers.
- Literary analysis essay analyzing how literary components impact meaning. Must incorporate the use of primary sources in the evaluation of different literary movements and how such contextual elements impact meaning.
- Analysis of informational texts. Your analysis must gather information from reports, essays, and data to draw conclusions and synthesize information to create new solutions or perspectives.
- Original screenplay adaptation of a literary text. The primary objective is to capture the theme, tone, and emotional state of the text for the reader to experience. The process will include focused critiques from the perspective of the intended audience to guide revisions, improve voice and style in order to achieve intended purpose and effect.
- Persuasive, academic, or technical writing that incorporates research for support. Attach all drafts to demonstrate editing and peer-review.
- PowerPoint. The focus of this PowerPoint assignment is to demonstrate stylistic effect of conventions in wording and visual aesthetics.
- Self-designed research project- ROUGH DRAFT with FINAL DRAFT on top. Must fact-check sources and document your process for checking facts, reliability, and authenticity.
- Evaluation of rhetorical devices used in a text, picture, or video. Include a summary of the ideas and assumptions presented in each argument.
- Senior Project all requirements and guidelines will be given to you in April. The completed assignment will be due in May. Seniors will not be given any class time for this assignment.
- One written assignment from each class. The assignment should be something that has been graded and returned to the student. There should be six (6) written pieces to fulfill this requirement.
